Introducing LibScie Single Sign-On

Today, we're introducing LibScie Single Sign-On (SSO) – a flexible subscription platform that gives you access to various research, development, and productivity tools. We make it our job to manage digital services, so you can do your work with them.

Why LibScie SSO?

We are increasingly managing our own digital services to do our work and become more digitally autonomous. By also offering subscriptions to services we run anyway, we provide easy and financially sustainable access. We invest to setup the service – you only pay for the maintenance.

Open source software provides flexibility and control, but remains inaccessible to many. Self-hosting requires specific skills and time to deal with the challenges of maintenance, security updates, and backup management. As a result, wanting access does not equate having access. LibScie SSO aims to bridge that gap.

What's available at launch

We are launching with three core digital services that researchers, developers, and teams can benefit from:

  • Git Platform (€6.99/month) - A fully-featured Git hosting service with repositories, asynchronous collaboration, and project management features. Perfect for individual developers and small teams who want reliable version control without the complexity of self-hosting. We run this using the open source software Forgejo.
  • Link Management System (€3.99/month) – Organize, track, and manage your links with a comprehensive system designed for power users. Whether you're curating resources, managing bookmarks, or building link collections, this service scales with your needs. We run this using the open source software Linkace.
  • Dashboard service (€3.99/month) – A flexible web-based dashboard that centralizes all your web applications and services in one intuitive interface. Perfect for people who want to streamline their digital workspace with customizable widgets, service monitoring, and quick access to all their essential tools. We run this using the open source software Homarr.

Every service has a seven day free trial and subscriptions can be adjusted from month to month. Even though we start with only these three services, LibScie SSO will expand over time to offer a wider range of tools for you to use. All our clients can suggest and vote on new services, which helps us identify where to put our focus 😊

Climate aware, European infrastructure 🇪🇺

LibScie SSO is managed in Europe, by European businesses, on European servers. This means that all the content you upload to our services remains within European borders, fully subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We use the Open Telekom Cloud for our cloud infrastructure, which has publicly stated 100% of its energy comes from renewable sources. The Open Telekom Cloud is also marketed as being 18% more power efficient than the 2024 worldwide average. We ensure reliable cloud deployments by requiring all our staff with management access to be certified Open Telekom Cloud Architects.
